Feres Doctrine: protect those who protect us

 When a Service Member is sexually assaulted, they are barred from suing the assailant because of the decision in US v. Feres (1950). 

But if they were a civilian, they could sue the rapist.   Service Members deserve the opportunity to hold rapists accountable.

Justice for All Coasties

Sexual Assault in the Coast Guard has reached catastrophic proportions.  


The Right The Ship Coalition is dedicated to the pursuit of justice for all individuals wronged by the culture of cruelty and cover-up within the U.S. Coast Guard. We advocate for the eradication of bullying, hazing, sexual assault, harassment, racism, and retaliation and are focused on recognizing and supporting our nation's heroes.

Denisha Montgomery Smith

 Denisha was a Military Police Officer who was assaulted by 4 other Military Police Officers, then 21 days later found dead.  The military says no assault occurred and ruled her death a suicide.  


Denisha was three short weeks away from being re-deployed and reunited with her husband and three young children......and the military would like us to believe that she killed herself.

Thae Ohu

After reporting being sexually assaulted while serving in the Marine Corps, Thae thought that she was doing the right thing.  


But what she quickly learned was that she broke the "code" by reporting a fellow Corpsman, which led to her being thrown in the Brig for 328 days.

Jennifer-Ruth Green

Jennifer-Ruth's confidential report of sexual assault while serving in the Air Force was leaked to her political oppenent by the military during her campaign for office.  


Shortly after, Jennifer-Ruth lost the election.  


The Air Force took responsibility for the leak, but the damage had already been done.

Chelsey Woodard

After reporting that she was sexually assaulted while serving in the Air Force, Chelsey hoped to see some measure of justice.  


Rather what she experienced was gaslighting, retaliation, and her Command trying to convince her that she just "crazy."
