Heal. Empower. Love. Lead.
You cannot change the world unless you can change yourself.
Heal. Empower. Love. Lead.
You cannot change the world unless you can change yourself.
Where do we go from here?
I'll be posting my action plan soon, but here's the first wave.
Be sad if you must and rest. But get ready to MOVE.
With all the turmoil around us, it can be easy to forget how strong we really are. My mission is to help others find their voice by helping them remember.
By empowering others to be their best, we can lead our communities to overcome the seemingly relentless challenges that we face.
We are not alone, and we are stronger together.
Do you have what it takes to do the hard work on yourself so that our community can grow?
Change starts with you.
I am the founder and Executive Director of Combat Sexual Assault, a nonprofit organization that empowers survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) by helping them overcome barriers to obtaining justice.
As an Attorney, Army Veteran, Chair of the Nationwide Military & Veterans Women’s Coalition, I have been helping others break free to live their best life for more than 20 years. In addition to representing Service Members and Veterans, I also operate a rural LGBTQ+ Resource Center and Yoga & Community Center in Sanford, NC. There I provide trauma informed resources and care throughout the community.
At CSA, we empower survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) by helping them overcome barriers to obtaining justice while helping them find their voice.
According to the Department of Defense, more than 64% of Service Members are retaliated against after reporting an assault. That can really take a toll on someone.
Not only do we address their legal needs, but we also offer wholistic and evidence based healing modalities to help them reclaim their power and find their voice.
As we process trauma through the mind, we also have to process it through the body. Our nervous system is wired like branches of a tree. And when we experience stress or a traumatic event, those branches can get pruned. But those branches can regrow, and that is what we focus on with the Empowerment Protocol. Using the breath as our guide, we systematically work through each area of the body so that every client can calm the mind, get out o fight or flight, and reset their nervous system.
After trying to manage my PTSD, I found that traditional talk therapy wasn't helping as much as I'd like. Then I learned about how trauma resides in my body.
So I tried yoga.....and hated it at first. It was terrifying and triggering to sit with myself on my mat.
But I kept showing up, and over time, I learned to calm the chaos of my mind.
Now I run an inclusive, & trauma informed yoga studio to help others do the same.
During the pandemic, my kiddo came out as trans. Living in a rural town, there were no resources for him. So we started a group for LGBTQ teens. From there, the adults asked what we could do for them, so we started to add more and more activities, resources, and events. Despite getting protested by the Proud Boys, local churches, and neo-nazi's, we hold strong and offer our rural community a safe space to land and be free.
As the President of the MVWC, we advocate for our female veterans on the national stage on a host of issues. Whether its access to proper healthcare, breaking down barriers for our homeless community, or addressing systemic sexual assault, we work hard with our collabrotive partners to move the needle to improve the lives of our female service members and veterans, both past and present.
All proceeds go to support our rural LGBTQ+ Resource Center and other projects Lindsey supports!
We'd love to hear from you!
